Faces of FCSS Chelsey

Chelsey Hudkins,
Community Navigator,
Lacombe & District FCSS

It’s always been in my heart to help people, and that’s truly what I love doing. One of my personal passions is fishing, and I recently had the opportunity to connect that passion with my work by creating a youth fishing program with FCSS. The program gave local youth the chance to get outdoors, learn about fishing and conservation, and build positive connections with mentors and peers. It also created opportunities for collaboration with new sponsors and donors, while expanding room for volunteer opportunities that helped bring the program to life and connect more community members together.

Why I got involved in FCSS
I chose to work in FCSS because I’ve always wanted to support others, whether that’s through connecting people with resources, building programs, or just being a listening ear. My life experiences have taught me the value of community support and how important it is to know you’re not alone. In my role, I get to be part of that support system, which is both meaningful and motivating every day.

What I’ve learned in my role with FCSS
I’ve learned how powerful small actions can be in making a big difference for someone else. Whether it’s helping a client navigate a challenge, or creating a program that sparks joy and connection, I see daily how impactful this work can be.

FCSSAA

The Family and Community Support Services Association of Alberta (FCSSAA) was founded in 1981, as a member-driven organization dedicated to bringing Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) programs from across the province together. We provide the platform for our member programs to connect and collaborate, so they can maximize resources and speak with an informed, credible, unified voice to all stakeholders.
